Father Tyler Tenbarge was born and raised by his parents on the Tenbarge family farm in Haubstadt in southern Gibson County. He attended Sts. Peter & Paul elementary school and graduated from Gibson Southern. Two and a half years of traveling full time with the National FFA Organization took Fr Tyler all over the country as he promoted the agricultural industry, did fundraising for educational programming and spoke to young people about leadership and personal development. While working for the FFA, Fr Tyler rediscovered a childhood call to priesthood and entered seminary at Bishop Bruté and Marian University before finishing at Saint Meinrad. He was ordained five years ago at St. Benedict Cathedral, and his first assignments were as associate pastor in Newburgh and as chaplain at Memorial High School. Since then, he has studied canon law in Rome, served at several parishes on the west side of Evansville, and now runs the House of Discernment and Vocations Office for the Diocese of Evansville in addition to serving as a priest at Corpus Christi. When he’s not doing his priestly ministry, he enjoys working on the family farm.
